Requirements

Identification & Age Requirements

We are committed to maintaining a safe, legal, and professional environment. Please review the following requirements before your appointment.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

If You Are 18 Years or Older

You must bring a physical, current government-issued photo ID:

  • State ID
  • Driver’s License
  • Passport

We do not accept:

  • School IDs for adults
  • Birth certificates for adults
  • Photos or photocopies of ID

All IDs must be valid and not expired.

Under Illinois law, it is illegal to tattoo anyone under 18.
You must be 18+ for tattoos at 618 Tattoo.

All clients receiving a tattoo or piercing must present identification — regardless of age.

Guests may be asked to provide ID if necessary.

MINORS (UNDER 18) — PIERCINGS ONLY

We do pierce minors within age guidelines listed below.

The following are required:

Required Documentation

  • Minor’s original birth certificate OR court guardianship papers
  • Parent or legal guardian’s current government-issued photo ID

Photocopies will NOT be accepted.

Additional Acceptable Photo ID for the Minor (optional but helpful)

  • State ID
  • Driver’s Permit
  • Passport
  • Tribal ID
  • Current school ID
  • Lost child identification card

If the minor and parent/guardian do not share the same last name and address listed on their IDs, a birth certificate or guardianship paperwork is required by law to verify legal relationship.

Parent / Guardian Requirements

  • Must be present for signing paperwork
  • Must remain present during the entire piercing procedure
  • Must bring valid government-issued photo ID

STUDIO POLICY REGARDING MINORS

  • Minors are not allowed in the studio unless they are receiving a service and accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
  • Additional minors who are not receiving a service are not permitted inside.
  • Minors may NOT attend tattoo or piercing appointments as guests.

AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR PIERCINGS

We require that clients be able to understand and consent to the procedure.
We do not pierce infants.

  • Ear Lobes: 5+ years old
  • Basic Ear Cartilage, Nostril, Septum: 14+ years old
  • Navel, Lip, Eyebrow, Bridge, Inner Ear Cartilage: 16+ years old

All age approvals are at the piercer’s discretion.
